Bitcoin

The first and the biggest and the most widely accepted cryptocurrency.  Even though the value is volatile, it keeps increasing and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. You should try to get what you can.

Etherium

Etherium is the second largest cryptocurrency on the market and it looks like it’s here to stay. Etherium’s blockchain platform is solid enough that many coins and other services are based on it.  Look to hear a LOT more about this coin.  A+ investment coin!

Monero

The security and anonymity has made this a breakout star in the cryptocurrency world.  This is a good long term investment.

Litecoin

Litecoin is similar to Bitcoin, but the transaction times are much quicker. It’s widely traded and considered a player in the game. Worthwhile.

Dogecoin

Originally meant as a joke, it’s a very widely accepted coin.  It’s low value makes it a great way to get started and a low risk for those trying to learn how all this works.  Widely accepted a respected. This coin is my personal favorite.  This coin has a large fanbase and I expect that one day in the future, one of it’s fans are going to develop a trading platform that will send prices to the moon!

Honorable mentions – DASH, Peercoin, Blackcoin, Zcash, Dcred, Ripple.  These are all solid coins and will probably hold their value over time.

Please note, there’s a lot of new coins being released in what are called an Initial Coin Offering (ICO).  It’s doubtful that any of these have the staying power that the above coins have, so be wary about investing in these.
